PEOPLE

  • Jason Brown is a writer and professor of creative writing. He is the Director of the MFA Program at the University of Oregon. He taught undergraduate and high school creative writing at Cornell, Stanford, Phillips Andover, Hotchkiss School, and other places. Jason attended Bowdoin College, Cornell University, and Stanford University, where he was a Stegner Fellow and a Jones Lecturer in Fiction. Jason has published five books of fiction and nonfiction. His screenplay about the Afghan Girls Robotics Team was made into a major motion picture distributed in theaters across the country and on Amazon. Jason has been working as professor, teacher, and tutor for over twenty-five years. He has also worked as a mentor to writers seeking to develop their manuscripts for publication, and for submittal to agents and to MFA programs. He has also worked to help young writers improve their writing in preparation for college.

  • Nicola Fucigna, a published poet and nonfiction writer, is a graduate of Barnard College, Columbia University (B.A. English), the University of Arizona (MFA in poetry), and the University of Oregon (Masters in Architecture). She also has a copyediting certificate from the San Diego State. She has taught college writing and poetry at the University of Arizona and the University of Oregon. She worked as an editorial assistant at Copper Canyon Press and Graywolf Press. She was poetry editor at Sonora Review. Currently she is the Marketing Director at Rowell Brokaw Architects in Eugene, Oregon.

    Nicola has worked extensively as a copyeditor for people working on a variety of manuscripts. She has worked closely with Ph.D. students and faculty in the humanities and the social sciences, and she has worked through The Porch (https://www.porchtn.org/) to help new writers develop their poetry.
